A. Troy Hunter is a partner at Issaquah Law Group and has been practicing as a civil trial lawyer in Washington since 1999. His practice emphasizes defense of insureds and self-insureds from claims of personal injury, wrongful death, and property damage in the areas of commercial liability, premises liability, and product liability. He has litigated extensively cases of disputed fire damage, from investigation through litigation. Troy also defends his clients from employment claims, including wrongful termination, discrimination and Workers' Compensation. His clients include Lowe’s Home Stores; Sedgwick CMS, Hobby Lobby; and Smart & Final Stores / Cash & Carry.
Troy has extensive experience handling cases from inception through trial and appeal up to the Washington State Supreme Court. However, Troy constantly and critically analyzes each of his cases for the most efficient disposition of the dispute. He is highly effective for his clients in getting cases dismissed through aggressive motions practice, and in defending these dismissals on appeal. He has also acted as a mediator for disputes, which gives him a keen insight into creative settlement and resolution strategies on his own cases.
Troy graduated from the University of Washington in 1995 with honors in Sociology, and from the University of Washington Law School in 1999.
While attending the University of Washington Law School, Troy received honors on the Moot Court Honor Board, earned an International Award for Excellence in Mediation and was admitted into the National Order of the Barristers for outstanding skills in trial advocacy.
Troy enjoys spending time with his wife, Kathleen, and their lovable dogs, Abby and Tsavo. An avid fan of film, Troy spends much of his free time writing screenplays. He enjoys playing tennis and golf, and always welcomes a challenging game of chess or backgammon.
