Bush Sets Up Future Fight on Endangered Species Act Rule Period; Agency Reviewing 7 Comments a Minute
In a move to bolster his legacy of greed, corruption, and kowtowing to big money interests, Bush is attempting to review 200,000 comments on a proposed rule change in the span of 32 hours. The proposed rule would exclude greenhouse gases and the advice of federal biologists from decisions about whether dams, power plants, and other federal projects could harm species. Given the number of comments (200,000) and the number of people reviewing comments (15), each member would have to review seven comments per minute. Keep in mind that most comments are lengthy, with many comments during the hundred page mark.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out in court, and whether this is a violation of the APA.
