Nebraska Safe Have Law to be Amended
For those that haven't been following my slew of posts regarding Nebraska's child abandonment safe haven law, which provided no culpability if a parent abandoned a child in the manner provided for by the law, there is change on the horizon.
Nebraska Governor Dave Heinemann said at a news conference, "This law has had serious, unintended consequences." The law is slated to be amended shortly after Legislature convenes in January. Should another rash of abandonment occurred, the governor has said that he may be forced to call a special session to act sooner.
