Senator Stevens Knew Jail Was A Possibility
In an interesting twist in the trial of the Alaska senator, Bill Allen, an oil executive with ties to Stevens, warned Senator Stevens of the possibility that Stevens' contacts with him might result in a corruption investigation. Stevens' said he believed they had done nothing wrong, but that, at worst, jail or a fine were a distinct possibility.
Unfortunately for Senator Stevens, this series of three conversations took place AFTER Mr. Allen was confronted with evidence by the FBI, and the conversations were recorded by bureau. This just keeps getting better and better.
