Breaking News: Lieutenant Who Gave Taser Order Commits Suicide

In a follow up to the story I posted last week in regards to the death of a New York City resident in a fall due to a poor decision to taser the nude and disturbed resident, the New York City Officer who gave the order to taser the man, Lt. Michael W. Pigott, has committed suicide.

New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg issued a statement:

The lieutenant was deeply distraught and extremely remorseful over the death of Iman Morales in Brooklyn last week. Sadly, his death just compounds the tragedy of the loss of Mr. Morales.

I couldn't have said it better. For those that missed it, here is the tragic incident that led to Lt. Pigott's suicide today. My prayers go out to his family in their time of need.
